Elite military personnel and special forces have understood the gravity of the drone threat for many years. Way back in 2016, the Islamic State terrorist group, also known as “ISIS,” was using commercial drones that could be easily purchased online. ISIS attached small explosive devices to unmanned aerial systems (UASs), transforming drones flown in Iraq and Afghanistan into remotely-piloted bombs.
Since then, other groups have also used drones in asymmetrical warfare against conventional forces, but terror attacks are not the full scope of the drone threat to soldiers. UASs are also used as an “eye in the sky” to collect intelligence on troop movements and formations, and even military bases. Drones can also threaten the flight patterns of helicopters and planes.
TESTED AND PROVEN WITH ELITE ORGANIZATIONS
D-Fend Solutions’ EnforceAir, our flagship counter-unmanned aerial system (c-UAS) product, has been selected by defense agencies as a best-in-class radio frequency system.
EnforceAir has been successfully tested and deployed at high-level U.S. government agencies – including military, federal law enforcement and homeland security departments, and major international airports.
KEEP COMMUNICATIONS CLEAR
Radars often have trouble differentiating between small drones and other flying objects, and they are complicated to operate. Optic solutions generate false alarms and the problem with many acoustic solutions is that drones are becoming increasingly quiet.
Jamming-based solutions, or hybrid solutions featuring jammers for mitigation, emit energy to block drones’ controller signals and render them largely unable to function properly. This may not be an optimal solution for special forces and military personnel, for multiple reasons. Jammers could block radio communications, which could hamper communication between units.
Many military forces today utilize authorized drones for various purposes, including intelligence and targeted strikes, but conventional solutions may not be able to distinguish between “friend and foe.” Also, drones that get jammed can behave unpredictably, sometimes dangerously plummeting to the ground.
Kinetic counter-drone solutions, which involve shooting down the UAS, are also too risky in crowded situations. What goes up must come down, and the falling drone, the projectile, or the metal debris that is created from shooting a drone could injure special forces, or civilians in the affected area.
CONTROL THE DRONE, CONTROL THE BATTLEFIELD
EnforceAir, D-Fend Solutions’ flagship solution, features proven and future-proof technology that detects unauthorized or rogue drones, identifies them and then automatically takes control over the drones and lands them in a safe, designated area. Authorized drones remain fully operational and unaffected.
An alert zone can be set on the outer perimeter of the battlefield or military base, with multiple protection zones blanketing the surrounding areas. Unlike conventional counter-drone technologies, EnforceAir empowers military personnel with full control and does not disrupt their communications.
AGILE & INTUITIVE
EnforceAir provides the ultimate in operational agility and flexibility, as its core elements can be easily transferred, mounted and configured within a matter of minutes, enabling troops to go anywhere at any time. This includes a military vehicle installation and a ground-level, military tactical deployment. EnforceAir is relatively light-weight and can even be carried by soldiers in the field.
Its intuitive graphical user interface and rugged tablet are intuitive and easy to use, and do not require a technical background.
