Small, unmanned aerial systems (sUASs) are available, inexpensive and they can disrupt large outdoor events protected by law enforcement – but that is far from the only danger they pose. Drones can also be used to surveil law enforcement agencies, hinder police movements, transport drugs and contraband, and even target law enforcement officials.
Law enforcement personnel are increasingly relying upon drones to surveil unfolding events, such as active shooting situations, and to capture pictures and videos of potential crimes. But most counter-small, unmanned aerial systems (C-sUAS) do not enable system operators to classify drones as “authorized” or “unauthorized.”
First responders in dangerous situations, or war-torn regions, meanwhile, could become collateral damage during a terror attack via drones. Malicious actors could also use drones to prevent first responders from helping victims, or otherwise managing the situation.
IDENTIFYING THE REAL THREAT
Traditional solutions – such as radars for detection and jammer-based solutions for mitigation – cannot classify drones as authorized or unauthorized. On the detection side, law enforcement personnel could confuse an authorized drone with a hostile one, or vice versa. And some legacy counter-drone solutions mitigate all drones, including the authorized ones that law enforcement depend upon during critical situations.
This is far from the only issue…a survey by the Institute for Defense and Government Advancement (IDGA) shows that security teams are losing faith in traditional solutions.
THE TAKEOVER
EnforceAir, D-Fend Solutions’ flagship solution, features proven and future-proof technology that detects unauthorized or rogue drones, identifies them and then automatically takes control over the drones and lands them in a safe, designated area. Authorized law enforcement or first responder drones remain fully operational and unaffected.
An alert zone can be set on the outer perimeter of protected areas, with multiple protection zones blanketing the surrounding areas.
PROVEN AND TESTED
D-Fend Solutions’ EnforceAir, our flagship counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) product, has been selected as a best-in-class cyber, radio frequency (RF) system and acquired by top-tier federal government agencies. EnforceAir has been deployed at high-level U.S. government agencies – including federal law enforcement, military and homeland security agencies.
Integration with Law Enforcement & Military C2 Platforms
D-Fend’s technology and integration partners offer integration to top law enforcement and military command & control (C2) systems.
The integration of EnforceAir with these C2 systems enables operators to view EnforceAir’s drone information on general map-based C2 platforms, with an option to trigger a mitigation process via the C2 platforms. Organizations can seamlessly integrate EnforceAir into their work processes and expand operational awareness beyond the tactical team operating EnforceAir.
AGILE & INTUITIVE
EnforceAir provides the ultimate in operational agility and flexibility, as its core elements can be easily transferred, mounted and configured within minutes, enabling law enforcement and first responder personnel to go anywhere at any time. This includes a covert Vehicle installation and our Ground-Level Tactical deployment for ground forces and law enforcement. EnforceAir is relatively light-weight and can be carried by personnel in the field. Its tablet is intuitive, even for non-technical law enforcement personnel.
